The Algarve in September

Back in September we spent a week in a villa in the Algarve. This is one of those places we have all heard of and know is a popular holiday spot for many, but had never made it there. It is easy to see why people like it. We had a villa a short car journey or 15 minute walk from the coast. Time by the pool, sipping coffees/beers and doing some of that reading I never get round to doing.

The coastline is dramatic with big cliffs and endless coves and small beaches. Its easy to walk (and scramble in places) for miles along the coastal path. Days taken up walking and chilling on various beaches. It was not looking like wind sports were on the cards so I just packed running shoes. The endless dirt tracks made it perfect for trail running. Sunset dinner and drinks overlooking the sea are hard to beat.

We took a day trip to Lagos to just see a bit further afield. It was easy to see why so many settle there for a few years. The pace of life looked about right. The Algarve was the perfect place for a chilled break.
