Trail Running Eryri

With more regular weekday running and upping distance this year it has opened doors to bigger adventures. Running has been a love hate thing for me in the last ten years. I was the classic guy who would just go out and run and then my knees would hurt so I would give up for months before doing it all over again.

A few years ago I decided to try and figure this out and essentially had to relearn how to run. The concept sounds ridiculous but after going down endless rabbit holes online I figured I needed more cushioned shoes and to massively reduce stride length and increase cadence. I started going out in the park for short runs and really focused on keeping my cadence high.

Running has not come naturally and building any kind of conditioning has taken years. Consistency has been hard to maintain until recently too which is probably a huge factor too. Now it is a lot of fun to make use of said conditioning to go on adventures – which was the point all along.

Eryri aka Snowdonia is not the alps, but it is noticeably bigger than the Black Mountains and areas close to home. It felt like a step up. A good day out, covering lots of ground and pushing the body.

Its always fun to document these things to look back on in the future. This time the team went overboard and combined phones, a 360 cam and a drone to out together a short video of the run.
