Another year, another new range of snowboards and another trip to french trade snowboard test Avant Premiere. Things get better and better! The first time I was there 2 years ago it was like riding a dry river bed – agony whenever anyone took a board out as you knew it would come back scratched to hell. There was simply not enough snow in the lower sections. Last year was better – great piste conditions but not a lot else. This year it simply did not stop snowing! It way out did the forecasts. After an all night drive Friday morning we got to La Clusaz early Saturday and decided to ride. It was meant to be the best conditions of the week so it seemed silly not to. As often happens when tired, I stacked a jump and strained my wrist. I thought I had ruined by week then, but a day off riding on Sunday helped a lot.
It continued to snow creating some great riding conditions but with periods of bad visibility. All in all a lot of fun was had – I now know why the resort is so popular with locals. My favourite board of the week was the Never Summer Cobra. I set it up with my bindings set back and it was a great powder slashing all mountain charger!
Nice one mate
