London is an amazing city. I hate many things about it – paying over £100 for 3 days parking for example. I also love it. So many interesting and different people, so many restaurants, so much to do and many places to go.
My reason for being in the big smoke was work. The Ledge trade show at London Olympia. This is the new(ish) skate trade show. The show was decent. It felt really quiet, and could have been 100 times better, but I made some solid contacts and that is all that matters. It just makes days drag a bit when there is a lot of standing around. It does not feel very productive. It is nice to catch up with a load of people though. Being combined with a goth fashion show for lack of a better term makes it somewhat “interesting” too.
Setting up and breaking down at Olympia is a nightmare too. The car park attendants (traffic supervisors I think they call themselves) are monkeys. Note to self for future shows – take a trolley to help lugging stuff massive distances!
On the plus side – I did get to meet up with a bunch of people. I caught up with school friends, Uni friends and my brother. Pretty good going for 4 days in town but there are always more I didnt get to see. It is great catching up with people and talking and I am generally bad at that. Hopefully I will make it to London again before the next show in January.
The food options are also amazing in London – lots of options we dont get in the shire.
